This is just my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less

Oliver Pietern

- His gallery has something unique about it. 6 hours and 34 minutes before I first saw =
hoschie's dA profile, ~
sparkeyboy09 left a comment saying: "OLIVER, BROWSING YOUR GALLERY IS LIKE GOING INTO SOME MAGICAL BIZZARE SHOP FILLED WITH COLOURS,FANTASTIC WORK!!!!" and that pretty much sums this guy up.

ceruleanvii's
journal on the issue of Mature Content tags and what type of art should require to be tagged as such is something that I think every deviantArt member needs to be asking themselves. The type of hysteria and unjust treatment of artists and art appreciators referred to in the journal and the many well written and well discussed comments make for some interesting reading and may contribute to a better system here in our little community and beyond. When you think about it, even the smallest seemingly irrelevant decision like deciding that children using deviantArt needs to "be protected from" seeing nude art, but not erotic art where the subjects genitalia is covered up, is part of a bigger problem that you can see all over the media of today. I think discussion is an important part of improvement. And while you're there look at *
ceruleanvii's
pretty art!
Maria J. William

- I found =
sijeney through her comment on the journal I mention above. She linked to
a journal she had written on the topic and I found myself nodding and laughing while I read it. (Especially at the part "...their kids won't automatically become leg-spreading whores if they view art containing tasteful nudity...")
Then I checked out her gallery and was blown away! She has some real talent and it is definitely worth your time to see it. I mean just look at
this! Another of her journals that caught my eye was
this one: her journal rant on the general European view that most Americans are lazy/stupid/fat, etc. While you're there you should check out the rest of her journals for some more of her well written and interesting rants and ravings.

Some art I found particularly astounishing:
*
Traditional art, believe it or not:
Lady Cardinal by =

Beautiful!

(Don't believe it's not digital art? I didn't either... so here's
"proof."Photography:
Water Faces by

is just spectacular. For some reason I get a picture of those old ships (like they have in Pirates of the Caribbean) being struck by the full force of the ocean when I look at this.
mii by

and
Inseparable by

is a small selection of a new trend in photography that I approve of! It's just so cute....
6x6 by

- What a project! You wont regret clicking this link.
Where subscriber's money goes by

is one of the funniest pictures on deviantArt! And not only is it funny, but it is beautiful and clearly made by talent! (and I know- not really photography -but I sort of lump computer manipulations in with photography and sometimes in Drawings...)
In the eyes of a child by

- Now I might be a little bias here as the model is the nephew of my best friend and the photograph was taken by another friend, but you cannot say that this image didn't make you pause and stare. It is simply gorgeous!
Gramps by

is a funny and beautiful shot taken by someone who really knows how to use her camera!
Cube - Dido legs by

is a fascinating artistic nude. Original and beautiful.
My secret view by

- Ladies and gentlemen, before this picture I was reluctant to consider getting a tattoo because I thought it would look unfinished/dirty/not pretty/childish or some combination of those. This tattoo proves otherwise. If I were ever to actually get a tattoo it would be very similar to this one. This is simply beautiful.

Artwork that I love for different reasons:
Freeing the Stars by

has a wonderful story to go with it that you have to read to appreciate just how moving the picture is. It feels like an old fashion fairy tale, filled with magic and children. I want to see a story book with this.
Bring forth thy happyface by

is everything I love about those little emotes. It just looks so happy!
Gingerbread by

is a pure laugh-out-loud image. I love it!
Two by

left me speechless.
Godric's Hallow by

- As a Harry Potter fan I just couldn't not post this here. Not only did ~
TomScribble drew one of the most touching moments in Book 7, but she drew the polyjuiced Harry and Hermione as a tribute to her grandparents who have passed away. I lost my grandfather two years ago and I know how much I would love to do something like this, to combine my love of him and the wonderful world of Harry Potter.

My favourite webcomics:
Disconnected by

is a webcomic that I have been following for a while now. It has
an official website and
a livejournal where you can discuss and fangirl with other like minded individuals. ~
agentagnes's art is not necessarily for faint hearted people, so beware that her gallery is a bit 'morbid' perhaps, and that the comic might take a "nasty" turn.

I simply love ~
agentagnes's art and her style is uniquely hers. So... I love it, but you might not.

Also, boy-on-boy action, but nothing explicit so far.
Metanoia by

was my very first introduction to webcomics. All webcomics that have come to my attention since have been measured up against this one. So maybe it's no surprise that I really only have four webcomics that I love at the moment...
Again: some parts NFTFH (Not For The Faint Hearted).

There is blood and prostitution and death and boy-on-boy action so far, as well as beautiful art, witty dialogue, genius creators and interesting characters.
Starfighter by

is just filled with amazing art. It's another boy-on-boy one (sensing a theme here.....?), so if that's not your deal then at least take a look at the wonderful artwork before you move along. Check out *
HamletMachine's gallery here at deviantArt while you are at it as I think this artist will go a long way.

La Cosa Nostra by

is my most recent obsession. There is some blood, but I think this one is safe for the faint hearted, at least up to now. The story is great and the characters are interesting, so go give it a look!

So that's it. My first "feature". How did I do?
***
Please, if you know of something beautiful/unique/special/pretty or otherwise interesting artwork / journal entry / news entry, please please please tell me! (and it doesn't have to be boy-on-boy or anyone-on-anyone for me to love it....)
